Logan Mulally Signs With Specialized Grom Racing

Specialized/GROM proudly announces the addition of East Coast talent, Logan Mulally, for the 2011 season. Logan had many options for 2011. Choosing our program not only pushes us forward towards our goal of preparing young American riders for International competition, but takes Logan to the next level as well. We are honored that he chose Specialized/GROM.

Christopher Herndon- Team Director, former National Champion and World Cup competitor say’s of his teams latest addition: “I’ve had a long relationship with the Mulally family and have seen Logan develop since he was 10 years old racing at Snowshoe, WV. Having the opportunity to introduce and prepare him for World Cup competition is very inspiring. He has an incredible natural talent and we want to compliment that talent with a solid program designed to prepare him both mentally and physically. We have some incredible young riders in our program and Logan exemplifies what we’re looking for in those riders. He has a lot of experience for such a young athlete and we know the rest of our riders will benefit from having him on the team.”

New Magura Disc Brakes Coming

MAGURA has embarked on its MISSION PERFORMANCE campaign to develop the best disc brake in the world. But how do we define the best brake in the world? Isn’t it true that every terrain has its own particular challenges and that every bike has its own specific requirements, even every individual biker? Downhill racers need extreme braking power and stability - a few grammes more make no difference to them. World Cup racers are at the exact opposite end of the spectrum, and there are countless other specifications in-between.
Nevertheless, we have made it our business to find out what really matters, drawing on our decades of experience in brake design and extensive analyses of the best rival products but mainly on feedback from countless mountain bikers of all persuasions. The question is what would a brake need to be like to meet every requirement?
Surprisingly (but then again not surprisingly), it very quickly became apparent that there were four main criteria which a brake would need to satisfy in equal measure to qualify as the best brake in the world:

2011 Transition Bandit

The Bandit is a true to form lightweight trail bike designed to rip up and down the mountain. We pushed the envelope of tube design and machining of frame parts to create a bike that absolutely floats through singletrack. Careful attention to pivot placement and leverage curves make the Bandit feel like a long travel bike on the descents and a XC race bike going up. Our goal was to create a trail bike that combined the ultimate uphill pedaling feel along with a playful spirit on the downhill that is a treat to throw around corners, bunny hop and pull the front end up over obstacles. The Bandit gets you the best of both worlds without compromising and will put a smile on your face going up and downhill.
