For 2011 we went back to the downhill drawing board. We wanted to come up with a bike that was sleek and sexy, lighter and faster, plusher and easy to maintain. With a slacker 64-degree head tube angle, new 1.5-inch zero stack, tapered, internal head tube, mega-sized main pivots, and an axle that slides in from the drive side of the bike so you can adjust/tighten the main pivot, this bike is pure mint. Our top-drawer, World Cup ready 200mm travel DH race bike, stock with a Saint groupo, and Easton Havoc cockpit.
Since Kona first introduced the platform in 1996, we've been refining and honing the most functional, durable and performance-oriented dual suspension platforms ever invented. That's why you see versions of our 4-Bar linkage on everything from the Hei Hei XC Race bike to our DH Stab Supreme.

2010 Atherton Project Episode 8
Episode 8 kicks off with Gee heading for the British Champs up in Scotland without his injured siblings, Rach and Dan. Gee finds that he misses the inspiration and support of his brother and sister during competition but at the same time realises that to stay at the top, sometimes, he'll have to manage on his own.
Then it's on to WC Round 4 in Champery, Switzerland. With brother and sister still at home, Gee takes on the highly technical and challenging course alone. After some lightning-quick qualifiers on a dusty track, some serious rain sets in and turns it all to treacle. With Gee neck and neck with Greg Minaar in the overall placings this season, anything less than a win is a disappointment. Can he beat the mud and bring the points home?

2010 Crankworx Slopestyle Video
It's what we've been waiting for and today the Monster Energy Slopestyle went down. With blazing hot temperatures and dry conditions some of the top 16 riders in the world hurled themselves down the course with not much regard to bodies or safety. The day started at checking out the skills and finesse of the trials bikers over near the local creekbed. From there it was off to the Cheese rolling championships! Yes we saw people hurtling down the hillside all to grab that wheel of cheese. A now annual competition this British favorite shows who is willing to chase the "cheese".
After we filled ourselves with the cheese antics we checked out the village scene and got into position for the big show. After seeing Casey Groves tailwhip the Monster stepdown, then soon to be winner Cam Zink 360 it this course was open for the slaughter. Highlights were seeing near perfect runs by Brendan Semenuk and Darren Berrecloth, Both getting injured on the last hit the Kokanee showtime booter the rest of the field were waiting to take control. Cam Zink, Mike Montgomery and Casey Groves had top notch runs but it was Cam Zink's 2nd qualifying run which sealed the deal with technical trickery and huge airs.
With Whistler's biggest crowds since the Winter Olympics the nightlife was out of control. The Monster Energy afterparty at the Longhorn was a full house with Mat the Alien's video DJ set and drinks flowing freely.

2010 Crankworx Air DH Video By DirtTV
The Air DH took over the Whistler Mountain Bike Park with over 381 competitors ripping down the most famous DH course in the world, A-Line. Brian Lopes (USA) continued his reign in the No. 1 spot with a fifth in a row Air DH title, scoring the fastest time of the day at 4:15.69. The Air DH field housed many current UCI World Cup riders and also saw a few previous World Cup riders reach the podium.
The Air DH course runs the entire length of A-Line, finishing at the base of the Bike Park with the legendary GLC Drop. A-Line is arguably the most celebrated DH course in mountain biking, with nearly 50 jumps on the course. A-Line is the benchmark all DH courses strive to emulate. “It was definitely a fast course today compared to last year,” says Lesley Tomlinson, event announcer and mountain bike Olympian. “The dry conditions definitely contributed to the faster times.” Lopes’ time was nearly five seconds faster this year.

2011 Transition TransAm
The new TransAM frames are here just in time to get ready for winter riding. Some cool new features like a custom chain tug for singlespeeding, removeable cablestops and waterbottle mounts! The biggest thing is how smooth the decals and paint turned out. We went a little old school and it matches up with the style of the bike perfectly.
Everybody will agree that riding hardtails will make you a better rider which is why almost everyone at Transition owns and rides their TransAM a ton. Designed to tame XC trails as well as aggressive all mountain lines, the TransAM begs for epic rides and quick rips after work. Throw in the ability to run singlespeed or gears and you have one of our most versatile bikes that will improve your bike handling skills dramatically. Getting back to the roots of mountain biking and actually feeling the trail is what all mountain hardtails mean to us.

2010 Crankworx Canadian Open DH Results
Today saw Gee Atherton (GBR) and Emmeline Ragot (FRA) hammer down the steep rock faces and notoriously technical Canadian Open DH course to take first place in their respective pro divisions in the race presented by Kona.
Ragot is the current UCI Downhill World Champion and Atherton won the men's title in 2008. They are both moving on from dominating downhill events at Kokanee Crankworx to the Downhill World Championships taking place in Mont-Saint-Anne, starting September 2, 2010. The demanding slopes of the Whistler Mountain Bike Park are an ideal setting to train and prepare worldclass athletes for the demands of the Downhill World Championships.
Atherton, who also won the Dual Slalom at Kokanee Crankworx, had a solid run in the Candian Open DH presented by Kona and swept in at 3:04.14, second place went to pinner Lewis Buchanan (SCO) with a time of 3:09.16 while Justin Leov (NZL) maintained a pace almost exactly the same as Buchanan's to come in at 3:09.20.
“This was a real tough course to ride today,” says Atherton. “It has been a long season and I am excited to go from here onto the World Championships in Mont-Saint-Anne.”
Emmeline Ragot, who has been competing in various events all week also held on for a solid run. She blazed into first place with a time of 3:37.78, more than seven seconds faster than her first place time in 2009's Canadian Open DH. Claire Buchar (CAD) took second place with a time of 3:43.12 and up and coming racer Miranda Miller (CAD) took home third with a time of 3:46.85.
